Creating a settings ID
To define the settings for the SNP Outboard™ Housekeeping tasks, switch to the Activity view to define the settings for each activity. For each activity, it is possible to define the activity at various levels. This depends on how the system landscape is defined within the Landscape Editor. You can create the settings within the following hierarchical levels:
-
Group level
-
Subgroup level
-
Individual system level
Settings at group, subgroup and individual level
To create settings for each SNP Outboard™ Housekeeping activity, you must enter a settings ID. SNP Outboard™ Housekeeping will not allow you to create a duplicate ID in the same system landscape for the particular task. Instead, you can do the following:
-
Create new settings by entering a new ID or choose from existing settings that are at the current level or a higher level.
-
The default will be the last used settings ID for the specific user and task.
In the settings screen, there is a toolbar with buttons for saving created or modified settings and for deleting existing settings. In addition, it contains documentation about the Housekeeping activity and the option to clone settings and save them under a new settings ID (copying function).

The settings ID only covers the settings of tasks in SNP Outboard™ Housekeeping. There are also standard SAP Housekeeping tasks that are available in the SNP Outboard™ Housekeeping menu, however, they use a different approach than that of settings IDs. They follow the variant concept that is common for SAP reports.
Maintaining settings for standard SAP tasks
When creating the variant, the first step allows you to specify the selection criterion of the variant. You can select all section screens or choose selection screens individually. You can only create the variant on the central system.
Variants: Change screen assignment
In the next step, set the variant settings corresponding to the task.
At the top left of the Settings screen, you can click Attributes to define additional attributes for the task variant.
Variant attributes
Once the variant is specified, you can transfer the variant to the settings, i.e. use it as a settings ID. To do so, highlight the variant and click Transfer variants to settings. SNP Outboard™ Housekeeping first tries to assign a variant name to the settings ID. If it would lead to a non-unique settings ID, you are requested to enter an ID in the settings ID screen. If you prefer to use your own settings ID name, you can go to the SNP Outboard™ Housekeeping global settings, open the User-Specific tab and select Use own settings ID name. After saving this setting, an insert ID pop-up appears every time variants are transferred to settings.
Variant Maintenance
You can also highlight the variant and click Change variant. This enables you to modify, save and retransfer the specified variant can be modified, saved and transferred again. This action if possible for already scheduled runs with this variant. For cases where the variant is no longer required in the system, you can remote it by clicking Delete variant.
Once the variant is specified and transferred, you can run the variant from the main menu.
